Susan Yan – President and Owner


Susan’s background spans working as a product development engineer, moving up to leadership roles in engineering and operations, cost, quality and supply chain management, and prior to taking over Suburban Electric served as Vice President of Operations for Doosan Corporation's fuel cell division.  She has worked for industrial/commercial companies including General Motors, United Technologies, and Doosan.  In addition, she has worked for government entities including the Naval Undersea Warfare Center.  Susan holds masters and PhD degrees in Electrochemistry from Northwestern University.

After spending years vacationing and renovating homes in the Outer Banks, while working in corporate jobs, Susan decided to make a permanent move here to run her own business. Suburban Electric combines her love of electricity with her skills and experience running operations. Susan has owned and managed Suburban Electric since 2016 delivering great personal service, reliability and high quality to all of her customers no matter how big or small the job is.

Mark Melton - General Manager


Mark Melton has been an electrician for over 40 years. He has worked in both residential and commercial sides of the business and was the owner of his own electrical contracting company before coming on board with Suburban Electric. Mark is highly qualified in this field and holds an Unlimited NC Electrical Contractors license and is a qualified NC Electric Inspector III as well.

He has an impressive history with very reputable companies including Watson Electric and Starr Electric. Mark has seen to the electrical needs of both large and small commercial projects which include hospitals, banks, office buildings, residential buildings, data centers, retail stores, and more.

In addition to Mark's extensive professional experience and knowledge of this industry, Mark is a Navy veteran who regularly provides a level of customer service that exceeds our clients’ expectations time and time again. In order to ensure our clients have a clear understanding of our processes and timelines, Mark takes the time to set clear expectations and to discuss the requirements that are necessary in order to complete a project.
